Introduction

Contract Labour has been a topic widely discussed and deliberated by
Industries, Legislature & Media. For some business organizations,
now-a-days, many activities, like house keeping, security, canteen,
logistics, maintenance, pay-roll, recruitment etc are outsourced by the
organizations due to variety of reasons. It is a tool of cost reduction, for
others it is a tool to increase efficiency by outsourcing while for a few it
serves the purpose of taking care of temporary & seasonal work fluctuations.
The usage depends on the way it is proposed to be deployed and the results
also vary accordingly.

Various judicial pronouncements regarding Contract Labour (Regulation &
Abolitions) Act, 1970 have given many permutations to the Act causing
serious implications on the smooth operations in industry. Lately, the
Constitution Bench of the Apex Court has shown the way towards regulation of
contract labour. The Government has also realized the necessity of amending
the Act for the benefit of industries.

Profile of Faculty

Mr. VK Sharma - Corporate Legal Trainer & Consultant

Mr. Vinod Kumar Sharma, a Science Graduate, has passed his Masters in
Business Administration (MBA) in HR from MD University Rohtak. He also
graduated in Laws (LLB) from same University. To trail his interest in
Labour Laws, he further pursued specialized course in Labour Laws by passing
PG Diploma in Labour Laws & Labour Welfare from MD University, Rohtak. 

Growing through career hierarchy, he undertook various assignments in the
field of HR, IR and Compliance Management with industries of repute, which
included Lakshmi Precision Screws Ltd, Fibcom India Ltd, Talbros Automotive
Components Ltd, Vikas Group, JBM Group and Havells India Ltd. He rose to the
career ladder and lastly worked as General Manager - HR&IR with Japanese MNC
till 2017.

During his professional career, Mr. Sharma, undertook assignments of
establishing and developing HR policies and systems and Compliance
Management, Industrial and Labour Relations, Administration, Learning &
Development functions in industry. 

Besides being a regular trainer, he has been visiting faculty at Jamia
Milaia Islamia University and GLA University, Mathura.

Ms. Deepa Rafeeque - Corporate Legal Trainer & Consultant

Ms Deepa, Corporate Legal Trainer, believes in sharing of expertise
knowledge through trainings to achieve excellence and competence. Deepa's
exceptional analytical skills influence the participants immensely. Her
active listening helps participants to articulate the issues holistically.

Having spent nearly three decades in legal management and the interface had
with the legal luminaries, she has earned vast experience. This enables her
to empathise the problems of participants and to advise them appropriately
during the sessions.

Ms. Deepa has achieved mastery of the legal training. Her core expertise is
in Law relating to Women, Contract drafting & Management, Employee and
Labour Laws, Aviation Law and Arbitration. She is associated with NGO named
"Aware Citizen Foundation" for various activities under POSH Act. She is an
external member on POSH committee in companies.

Apart from above, she is also attached with Karnataka Judicial Academy,
Bengaluru to provide the insight trainings for Leadership, Communication
skills, Conflict Management, Team Building etc. She is also a certified
trainer from Indian Academy of Training & Development, Chennai.

Ms Deepa has Authored a book on POSH Law titled "Prevention of Sexual
Harassment of Women at Workplace - Law & Practice".
