Introduction -

It was in 2002 that the Second National Commission on Labour had recommended
consolidating the over 100 state and 40 central laws into four-five codes to
bring in uniformity. The commission in its report had categorically stated
that it had found the existing legislations to be "complex, with archaic
provisions and inconsistent definitions".

It was since 2014 that the Government of India gave a fresh push to convert
the existing 44 central labour laws into four codes. The process came for
clearance before houses of parliament in 2019 and was finally cleared in
last session of parliament in September, 2020.

With this, the process of codification of labour laws, has been cleared by
Parliament. With this 29 Labour & Employment laws have been codified in four
Labour Codes viz.

a.    The Code on Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions-2020

b.    The Code on Industrial Relations - 2020

c.    The Code on Social Security - 2020

d.    The Code on Wages - 2019

Development functions in industry.

Mr. Sharma undertook various assignments in the field of HR, IR and
Compliance Management with industries of repute, which included Lakshmi
Precision Screws Ltd, Talbros Automotive Components, Vikas Group- Faridabad,
JBM Group,  Havells India Ltd., and  Aisin Automotive Haryana Pvt Ltd.,.

He has been a regular Trainer on various programs including Labour &
